As the art world gears up for one of its most anticipated annual gatherings, the International
Association of Fine Art (IAFA) is excited to provide an in-depth preview of Art Basel Miami Beach 2025. Based in Miramar Beach, Florida, IAFA is dedicated to promoting, collecting, and preserving modern and contemporary fine art. Through our exhibitions, partnerships, and educational programs, we connect artists with audiences worldwide, fostering a deeper appreciation for creative expression. This year, as Florida’s own art enthusiasts and collectors prepare to descend on Miami, we’re highlighting the event’s international flair and its role in showcasing over 280 galleries and artists from across the globe.
Art Basel Miami Beach, set to unfold from December 5 to 7, 2025, at the Miami Beach Convention Center, promises to be its most ambitious edition yet. With 283 premier galleries representing 43 countries and territories, the fair underscores the truly global nature of contemporary art. From established powerhouses to emerging voices, this year’s lineup reflects a diverse tapestry of cultural narratives, artistic innovations, and historical reflections.
A Worldwide Convergence of Galleries and Artists
At the heart of Art Basel Miami Beach is its commitment to international representation. Galleries from Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, and beyond will converge, bringing fresh perspectives and boundary-pushing works. Notable newcomers include El Apartamento from Havana, Cuba—the first homegrown Cuban gallery at the fair, focusing on Afro-Cuban identity—and Lodos and Proyecto Nasal from Mexico City, emphasizing experimental Latin American art. From South America, Galeria Mapa in São Paulo and Pasto Galería in Buenos Aires join the mix, alongside Crisis from Lima, Peru.
North American galleries are equally robust, with San Francisco’s Rebecca Camacho Presents and Catharine Clark Gallery making their debut, while New York’s David Peter Francis, Candice Madey, and Kate Werble Gallery add to the East Coast vibrancy. Dallas’s Erin Cluley Gallery and Kyiv’s Voloshyn Gallery mark Ukraine’s first representation, highlighting resilience amid global challenges.
Returning favorites include nearly 100 galleries from Europe, Asia, and Africa, such as
Philadelphia’s Locks Gallery (back after nearly two decades), Mexico City’s OMR, São Paulo’s Raquel Arnaud, Los Angeles’ Regen Projects and David Kordansky Gallery, and international stalwarts like Galleria Continua and mor charpentier. This blend of new and veteran participants ensures a dynamic experience for collectors, curators, and art lovers alike.
Sectors Showcasing Innovation and History
The fair is organized into specialized sectors that cater to different facets of the art market:
Galleries Sector: The main hall features established dealers presenting everything from Modern masters to emerging talents. For instance, Alisan Fine Arts will spotlight underrecognized Chinese-American artists, bridging cultural histories.
Nova Sector: Dedicated to works created within the last three years, this area highlights cutting-edge creations. Highlights include Heidi gallery’s presentation of American-Jamaican artist Akeem Smith’s scratch-off paintings, drawn from Caribbean Dancehall archives.
Positions Sector: Focused on solo presentations by emerging artists, it features thought-provoking pieces like French artist Josèfa Ntjam’s photomontage triptych exploring colonial legacies, shown by Nicoletti.
Survey Sector: This historical lens showcases works from 1900 to 1999, including Pat Oleszko’s 1995 inflatable installation at David Peter Francis, offering a playful nod to past innovations.
Themes of identity, colonialism, and cultural fusion permeate the fair, with notable artists like Cecilia Vicuña, Nairy Baghramian, and Meriem Bennani receiving the prestigious Art Basel Awards Gold Medals for their contributions.
